John
D. Kepner
John D. Kepner was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, August 20, 1955. He
graduated from Triadelphia High School and attended both West Virginia
University and West Liberty State College. He graduated from Cincinnati College
of Mortuary Science in 1980 and received his West Virginia Funeral Directors and
Embalmers license, along with his Ohio Funeral Directors license that same year.
John is the son of John W. and Joan B. Kepner; and he and his wife, Claudia
Wisbon Kepner, have two children, Krystal and Jonathan.
He was elected to Who's Who Among Rising Young Americans in 1992 and
professional and civic organization memberships include: Past President of WVFDA
District VI; NFDA Operations Committee Budget Work Group; Past President of the
Wheeling Rotary Club, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow; former Valley
Hospice, Inc. Board Member, where he served as Wheeling Advisory Council
Chairman; Past Vice President of Wheeling Country Club; Elmburst House of
Friendship Board of Directors; Wheeling Coterie Board Member; former Bank One,
Wheeling/Steubenville, OH, Board of Directors; and Make A Wish Foundation
Northern West Virginia Committee Member.
John is also a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Fort Henry Club of
Wheeling, Wheeling Country Club, Wheeling Elks BPOE Lodge #28, and Fraternal
Order of Police Associates.
Kepner Funeral Homes have been serving the Wheeling area for over 160 years.
Established in 1845, it is the oldest funeral business in the Wheeling area and
six generations have provided dedicated service to the area's residents. Four
generations of Kepners have been a vital part of that dedication.
John's grandfather, Wade H. Kepner, was President of the West Virginia Funeral
Directors Association in 1931, and he looks forward to serving in 2007.
